Can the metal grates used where trees are planted in a hardscape count as open paver area [as long as the 50% open grid is achieved]?

We are running into a situation where the insulation is slightly under the R38 (R34.8) that is required per ASHRAE 90.1 yet the energy model shows we are over 10% energy efficient.

I am filing out the LEED documentation for IAQc1 for a Rec Center in St. Louis, MO. There is a Natatorium in this Rec with attached Locker/restroom/shower spaces.

Wow. The credit makes some sense, but the process is definitely a challenge. I just spent 20 minutes trying to find the survey to complete it.

Urban setting/city block difficulties

When completing this pilot credit, it seems that it should give more allowances for buildings that have streets on all four sides (take up an entire city block).

Captured and Conveyed to on-site retention areas

We are having a hard time determining how to calculate the flow quantities for our site when it has been designed so all of the run off is captured and conveyed to on-site retention ponds.

This may have been suggested early on but this is the third project where the client and design team objected to the name of this credit.
